About Us Yep, we ride !
Our History
We opened in April 2014 and yep at Hub Velo we all ride. Since then we have been busy making friends, fixing and selling bikes to the good people of East London. Here we love all bikes, and whether you're using yours to commute, shop, get fit, race or just explore, we are happy to help as these are things we do too. Between our friendly team we have significant experience in road, track, time trial, MTB, touring and Cyclocross racing. We also enjoy helping young people to get on bikes. In fact we love getting everyone on a bike and take all the major cycle to work schemes. If your employer hasn't joined a scheme yet checkout the Green Commute Initiative. The Green Commute Initiative (GCI) is a Social Enterprise, whose vision is to encourage commuters out of their cars and onto a bicycle, with the dual purpose of improving the individual’s health and wellbeing, as well as reducing the environmental impact of pollution and congestion from motor vehicles
Our philosophy
The bike should be the future for us all – simple. We like riding ours, fixing ours and yours too. We’ll always give you solid advice based on our experience, ensuring you get the right bike for your needs.

I still race unsuccessfully (won a couple trophies this year though!) but with some enthusiasm, although it has to be said I am a brilliant Line Judge! Time trialling, track racing and touring are my main loves but over the last few years I have had the cyclo-cross bug. Certainly worked for me going over the Himalayas, if not week in, week out in the Eastern Cross League. Summer 2018 I rode the Camino which I finished with a fractured jaw due to crashing on day one in the Pyrenees. Last summer after a nasty TT crash a month before (sensing a theme eh?) I headed to Gotthard Pass and Bologna for the Giro d'Italia prologue got back in six days, two months later bailed out of the TCR with illness at the half way point. Qualified coach and Cytech mechanic. Riding a Stevens Super Prestige cyclocross bike, a Brompton to work and around town and a Tifosi Cavazzo for touring. But mostly on my Trek Speed Concept TT bike most Saturdays and Sundays unless there's a pandemic. #testerMike Mooney
I’ve always ridden bikes from the first taste of freedom on my solid tyred bike at 4 years old, I’ve had many steads. I started riding a bike ‘properly’ at the age of 11. I just wanted to get out of my town and explore, this led on to my first bike race a couple of years later. Following some success on the road racing I was chosen to ride for The Great Britain team and selected to ride the World Championships (only managed first reserve) I raced in Belgium and France for a season and ended up on the scrap heap in my early twenties… It was an amazing life affirming experience. After some years off the bike I am now firmly back in the saddle all the pleasure I remember from the early years are back. Now a qualified coach and lover of all things bike, Hub Velo feels like the natural place to be. Always up for a chat on routes, bikes, training and anything in between. Can find me rolling around mostly on either my Cinelli Gazetta, Trek Boone or Stevens Sonora 27.5.Iva Pietrova
Barista - I make coffee and bake cakes. I answer phone calls, can help you to pump your tyres and measure your chain. I’ve also changed a puncture once. But mainly I am here to make you happy with great coffee and delicious cakes. I love when customers are happy. That’s my ultimate mission.Keith Perry
