Here is the route for this year’s Strade Bianche De Essex taking place on Saturday 7th March at 08.30.
Meeting at Hub Velo, 217 Lower Clapton Road, London E5 8EG. Those of you that have ridden this before will recognise most of the route, but this year we are running it in reverse. The majority of the off road sections fall in the first half, although there are sections throughout. We have recced the route and all the sectors are clear. However they are very muddy indeed. Also due to the high winds there are a good amount of fallen branches but nothing serious.
We would recommend a gravel, CX or mountain bike for this challenge. A road bike with good clearance might be ok but due to the recent weather a full aero racing machine might be a struggle. This is a non lead event with no route markings or marshalls. Please make sure you have downloaded the route, there are lots of turns… It’s everyone for themselves, however we would recommend riding with others in case of any issues, also it’s good to share the days experiences and of course you’ll need help getting through the more challenging sections!
There is an excellent cafe at the halfway point in Blackmore, plus a small shop for essentials. You are all welcome back at Hub Velo to watch the pros battle it out at the finish of the Stade Bianche in Siena.
